Reasons to Survive

After combat, survival does not always feel like victory. Sometimes it feels like a debt. I remember thinking about my family, about the people waiting for me, and realizing I had to make it home because my life was not just mine. Fear was real, but so was love. And in the worst moments, when everything in me was tired, it was the thought of seeing them again that gave me one more reason to breathe, one more reason to stand, and one more reason to keep moving.

Brothers

In combat, you don’t fight for politics, speeches, or medals. When the rounds start coming in and fear gets real, you fight for the man next to you. You fight because his life matters more than your own, because he would do the same for you, and because brotherhood is built in the worst moments a man can face. It is not loud or pretty. It is the quiet promise that no matter how bad it gets, no one stands alone, no one gets left behind, and every man does whatever he has to do to bring his brothers home.

Heroes Gone But Never Forgotten

RIP to my Brothers-In-Arms

Losing a brother you fought beside does something to you that never fully heals. In combat, he was more than a friend. He was the man you trusted with your life, the man who understood the fear without needing it explained, the man who stood with you when everything around you was falling apart. When he is gone, part of you stays back there with him. Brotherhood does not end at death. You carry his name, his laugh, his courage, and the promise that his life mattered every time you keep moving forward.

It's why we fight...
